Sale of plants for butterflies, fall interest and more to plant in autumn

BELMONT, N.C. – Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden will host a Plant Sale on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests are invited to discover a selection of plants for their home gardens featuring many native plants perfect for the region, pollinators’ favorites and more.

The sale will feature plants that have been awarded ‘Plant of the Year’  since 1991, butterfly host plants such as milkweed and butterfly weed, and plants that offer fall interest such as climbing aster, camellia varieties and more. The Garden’s horticulture staff will be available to answer questions and help shoppers make the best selections. Garden Members receive 10% off all plant purchases.


Visitors will also enjoy Lost Hollow Music Fest both Oct. 12 and 13. The festival will kick off on Saturday, Oct. 12 with Province of Thieves at 12 p.m. followed by Stepside Deluxe at 2 p.m. and headliners David Holt & Josh Goforth at 4 p.m. The festival continues on Sunday, Oct. 13 with Tom Eure & Amelia Osborne at 12 p.m., Chatham Rabbits at 2 p.m. and Darin & Brooke Aldridge at 4 p.m. The Beer Garden will also be open from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. each day (weather permitting) serving craft brews and wine.

A member preview of the Plant Sale will be held on Friday, Oct. 11 from 3 to 5 p.m. Garden Members are invited to join us for cookies and lemonade while browsing the plant selection. Members receive 10% off all plant purchases and can register in advance at www.DSBG.org.

Admission to the Plant Sale and Music Fest is included with general Garden admission and guests are also welcome to stroll through the Garden to enjoy the fall blooms. In celebration of the Garden’s 20th anniversary in October, “retro” admission pricing applies October 5th through 13th at $8/adult, $7/senior and $4/child 2 through 12.
