Celebrate NC State Parks’ “Year of the Bear” at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden!

Join us in celebrating North Carolina’s one and only bear species, the Black Bear (Ursus americana), as part of NC State Parks’ “Year of the Bear”! Explore our beautiful gardens and visit interactive bear stations to dive into the world of these fascinating creatures.

Date & Time: Saturday, September 7 | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Bear Facts & Basics: Discover all you need to know about our state’s iconic Black Bear.
  • Bear Pelts & Skulls: Get up close and personal by touching a real bear pelt and skull.
  • Eat Like a Bear: Learn about a bear’s diet and try your hand at bear-inspired snacks.
  • Bear Art: Unleash your creativity with a fun bear-themed craft to take home!

Stations will be available from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in our Lost Hollow Children’s Garden, while supplies last. This exciting and educational event is hosted by Haw River State Park in partnership with Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.

Note: This event is included with Garden admission. No additional fee is required. Most activities will be located in and around Lost Hollow.
