Join us for our Hummingbird Workshops with Expert Biologist Susan Campbell!

Join us for a captivating experience with expert biologist Susan Campbell as she captures, bands, and releases hummingbirds as part of her ongoing research. This unique event offers a rare opportunity to learn about these fascinating “ornithological jewels” up close and personal.

Dates: August 10 & 11
Times: 10:00 am – 10:45 am, 11:00 am – 11:45 am, 12:15 pm-1:00 pm each day

What to Expect:

  • Attracting Hummingbirds – Susan will share tips and techniques on how to attract hummingbirds to your own backyard and ensure they keep coming back.
  • Hummingbird Care – Gain insights into the safe and proper care of hummingbirds.
  • Hummingbird Banding – Witness the delicate process of hummingbird banding up close. With a bit of luck, you might even have the chance to hold and help release one of these tiny birds back into the wild.

Event Details:

  • Open to all ages. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Event Cost – $8 per person (both members and non-members). Children ages 12 and under can attend the workshop for free (Garden Admission still required).
  • Garden Members receive free admission to the garden with their membership, but must purchase a ticket for the Hummingbird Workshop. Non-members will need to pay the Daily Admission fee at the front desk. Workshop tickets can be pre-purchased online.
  • The event will be held outdoors, so please dress accordingly.
  • Note – This is a paid, ticketed event, and hummingbird workshop tickets are non-refundable.
