How do Time-Based events work?

  • Participants choose which Time Category they would like to participate in
    • Perennial features 3Hr, 6Hr, and 10Hr options
  • The Race Director does not determine the total distance run … it is completely up to each individual participant
    • Perennial features escalating prizes for reaching various distance goals
  • Participants aim to complete as many laps as possible within the allotted time, at their own pace, and on their own time (IE: mid race breaks are OK)
    • Perennial features a 5K loop that starts/finishes at Race HQ & Aid Station
  • Runners are ranked based on total number of laps completed, and then by time
    • Example A: The runner who completes 10 laps in 9 hours will be ranked higher than the runner that completes 9 laps in 8hrs
    • Example B: The runner who completes 10 laps in 9 hours will be ranked higher than the runner that completes 10 laps in 9 hrs and 15 mins
  • Any distance covered AFTER the time category concludes does NOT count towards the participant’s total lap count and standings

What do I need to know for Event Day?

  • Parking lot opens at 6am for registrants. Participants can drop their gear off at Race HQ, but MUST park in the main Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden parking lot – Parking Map Coming Soon
  • Participants can set up around the Race HQ as long as they are respectful to all over participants, staff, volunteers, and sponsors. The RD reserves the right to make the final call on space usage
    • Race HQ will be close, but separate, from parking. Plan accordingly, and arrive early.
  • Course will be a 5K loop that starts/finishes in the same location (Race HQ)
  • Bathrooms are in close proximity, but are not IN Race HQ (200ft away)
  • Participants are required to be fully self sufficient throughout the day
    • Shade, chair, change of clothes, lights (if desired) etc. are the responsibility of each participant
    • Unlimited water and reasonably limited Tailwind and Coke will be available at Race HQ
    • Participants are responsible for their main nutritional needs but we will have pretzels, chips, M&Ms, etc.
    • Friends/family are welcome to support and crew at Race HQ, but cannot pace on course
  • Event is entirely on the grounds at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. Thank them for their hospitality. Enjoy their beautiful property. Be respectful and aware of surroundings at all times.

How does this event support non-profits?

  • Additionally, we are a proud 1% For the Planet member, a portion of all of our revenue goes directly to supporting environmental non-profits in the greater Charlotte, NC area (where we are based)
